Justhost is slower than Hostgator.

for me, it started out okay, then the past couple of weeks, it bogged down (since the db crash).

However, in the past week, i paid to upgrade to a better server, and the performance on my side has been a lot better.

the main problem was that they had too many customers on shared servers. this place doesn't require much overhead, but the server load would regularly be 20+.

Since I upgraded to a better server, the load has stayed in the single digits.

Gotcha. Still seems slow from here, both at home and work, but perhaps better than a couple weeks back.

Same here. Occasionally when I click something the response takes up to a minute or so and I think the forum's gone down again.

'Zactly. When it's responding, it's decent. As often as not, clicking on the thread title on the left leads to much wait. And hate.

It was taking 50-55 seconds for a click to register just a few minutes ago.

yeah, i've seen the same issue. but at the same time, i've seen it at the same time with another beehive forum i frequent.

but right now, it's perfectly fine. i don't know how much of it is the host, the forum software, my isp, or general internet lag.

Really, maybe because of time difference but its like 2AM here and I'm on shared hotel internet (wired not wifi) and it's working good.

on a further note... when the site has been slow, i've checked the server load, and it was at 3. so, the performance issue has to be some kind of network bottleneck. but i have no clue where... i guess i can try a tracert next time to see where the lag is.

There are like 9 of us left

Possibly 3 of us on at the most

How the frack is the server being bogged down?

Some huge cyber sex orgy going on in chat?

i'm not having any problem.

deit: current server load : 3.86

have you tried doing a tracert to check on network issues?

It's intermittent slowdowns, and only this site is affected when it happens. On the plus side, it's been several days since i've noticed any slowdowns.

It could the RSS feed code checking for updates. The /. threads were posted a few minutes after you posted the message to which I'm replying.

I frequent another beehive forum (on a different host) that has been having slowdown issues as well.

I don't think it's the software.

why not?

that it took me to submit a reply at the other forum, i changed tabs to here, searched on 'Unread "To: Me"', read your reply, and clicked on the "Reply" button, and started typing this message before the other forum finished uploading the reply.

Now, I'm not saying it's all the software, but I can't just blame the host when I'm not seeing an issue at the same time (or near the same time), i do see the issue with other sites using the forum software.

this isn't a dedicated server. It's still a shared server (but with fewer clients on it). It's possible that at times one of the other clients has the server load or bandwidth pegged.

Or it could be network issues at the host, or network issues in general.

Because the forum only started being chronically slow after the move from hostgator to justhost.

It's been better since moving to the less crowded server, however.
